US media reports said Amazon, the biggest online retail store, is investigating complaints about “Alexa”, its smart personal assistant, following reports saying it starts laughing randomly.
Amazon told “The Verge” that the investigation was launched after users shared a video on social media showing Alexa emitting random laughter.
“We know about the problem, and we’re working on fixing it,” the online retail company, added in a statement.
A user wrote on Twitter last month: “So Alexa decided to laugh randomly while I was in the kitchen... I thought a kid was laughing behind me.”
Amazon said its planned fix will involve disabling the phrase, “Alexa, laugh,” and changing the command to “Alexa, can you laugh?”
The company noted that it also intends to change Alexa’s response from simply laughter to a notification saying it’s going to laugh, followed by laughter.
