Amazon reveals new details, sets premiere date for ‘Borat’ special

Borat is taking over Amazon’s streaming service.

Prime Video released new promos this week for a three-part “Borat” special featuring a so-called “reality show,” a series of documentary shorts and previously unseen footage from the fake Kazakh reporter’s latest movie.

The special, titled “Borat Supplemental Reportings Retrieved From Floor of Stable Containing Editing Machine,” is set to premiere Tuesday — just seven months after the release of “Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm,” a sequel to the original 2006 movie starring British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen.

Each part of the upcoming special has a typically long title and shows Cohen pranking people across the U.S. One of those parts, “Borat: VHS Cassette of Material Deemed ‘Sub-acceptable’ by Kazakhstan Ministry of Censorship and Circumcision,” features never-before-seen footage from the October film.

Another piece, “Borat’s American Lockdown,” is described as a 40-minute reality show featuring Cohen’s satirical alter ego spending five days with two conspiracy theorists at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

The third one, “Debunking Borat,” is a series of six documentary shorts featuring some of the world’s “leading experts” debunking Borat’s two conspiracy theorist roommates. The shorts are titled: “Vaccine Microchip,” “Mail-in Ballots Scam,” “Soros,” “China Virus,” “Gates’ Bricks” and “Hillary Clinton & Blood Libel.”

One of the promos hints at a possible cameo by Clinton.

The 2020 Borat movie, which also streamed on Prime Video, came out just days before the presidential election and featured a bizarre scene with New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani in a Manhattan hotel room with Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova, who was posing as a 15-year-old. In another scene, Cohen crashed a speech by then-Vice Present Mike Pence while disguised as Donald Trump.

Cohen won a Golden Globe award for best actor in a comedy and the movie received the best comedic film award.
