Amazon removes shoe that had the N-word in its description after online outrage

Retail giant Amazon has removed a listing from its site that featured the N-word in its description after outrage erupted online.

The item - a leather shoe - was withdrawn, after widespread criticism over its wording.

The shoe was described on the retailer's website as being the color of "N*****-brown," according to TMZ.

The item is part of the Floren brand's "Florence Shakespeare" line and the racist expletive was uncensored, according to the outlet.

The rest of the advert read: "Occasion: Whether you are working, driving, wedding, business or other casual lifestyles it is a great choice to wear."

The listing has been pulled (Amazon)

An Amazon spokesperson, said: "All sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who do not will be subject to action including potential removal of their account.

"The product in question is no longer available."

The e-commerce giant recently ditched all Washington Redskins merchandise from its site after the NFL team's name was dubbed "racist."

Amazon sellers face being deactivated if they refused to comply with pulling flagged items.

A statement on the retailer's website explains: "To sell on Amazon, you must adhere to our performance metrics and policies. Failure to do so may lead to the temporary deactivation of your account, removal of listings or limitations on your use of the Merchant Fulfilled Network (MFN)."
