Amazon Luna has been facing significant uncertainty over the past months, but an update from the e-commerce company now eases that worry as the game streaming service lives on via Prime Video.
Rather than fading away, Luna is now positioned as a built-in feature for Prime members, giving the service its most prominent placement yet after years of struggling with visibility.
Amazon Luna Is Now Available on Prime Video
According to an official announcement from Amazon, the Luna game streaming service will stay and be part of the Prime Video streaming platform. Starting July 23, Prime members with a Fire TV in the US and UK can access Luna games directly inside the Prime Video app through a new "Games" tab, sitting alongside shows, movies, live TV, and sports.
The rollout is currently limited to those two regions and to Fire TV devices specifically, though Amazon has confirmed plans to expand further.
Jeff Gattis, Amazon's GM of Gaming, said the company's end goal is to eventually reach every platform where Prime Video already exists, both on Amazon's own hardware and on third-party devices. He explained that one of Luna's biggest ongoing challenges has been that many Prime members simply don't realize the gaming service is already included with their membership.
"Bringing Luna inside Prime Video allows Prime members to discover games more naturally, and if they see one they like, they click it and they're in. That's less time searching and more time playing great games included with their Prime membership," he said .
Here's How to Access Luna on Prime Video
Getting into a game requires no separate download or app switch. Prime members simply open the Games tab within Prime Video, select a title, and start playing within seconds using either a Bluetooth controller or their smartphone as a controller substitute.
Amazon says this approach removes the usual friction tied to cloud gaming, letting people jump straight from browsing shows into playing a game without leaving the interface they're already using.
Amazon plans to keep expanding Luna's library every month, and the integration also opens the door to pairing games directly with related movies or shows on Prime Video. This has been something that the company already started experimenting with through titles tied to its own film releases.
Do You Need to Pay Extra For Luna?
Luna access through Prime Video comes at no additional cost, included as part of a standard Prime membership with nothing extra to purchase or download.
The library currently includes titles like "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle," "Fallout 4," "Hogwarts Legacy," "EA Sports FC 26," "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy," and "Control," along with GameNight party titles such as "Clue," "Ticket to Ride," and "Taboo" that groups can jump into together.
For players who want access to a broader library beyond what's included with Prime, Amazon still offers a separate $9.99 monthly Luna+ subscription through the standalone Luna app. That said, the separate subscription will only feature the same titles available on Prime Video.
The latest integration offers a way for members to get more from their subscription and enjoy game streaming via their Fire TV sticks.
