Amazon has just released an Alexa update with new features in time for the festive period.
With Christmas just around the corner, Amazon has introduced a Christmas countdown routine and an all-new “Hey Santa” feature.
Alexa now has Santa, a new personality, where you can ask Santa to tell you a story, sing a song, crack a joke, set a timer, and more.

Just say “Alexa, enable ‘Hey Santa’” to get started.
As well as Hey Santa you can also ask questions such as “Alexa, where is Santa?” or “Alexa, how many days until Christmas?”
Sight loss charity, Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) have made messages from Santa available via Alexa.
Just ask, “ Alexa, read my RNIB Letter from Santa” to hear the voice-activated letter in Santa’s voice.
You can also have some fun by asking “Alexa, am I on the nice list”, “ Alexa, sing a Christmas song” or “Alexa, do you like my Christmas jumper?”
In the Alexa app, you can set up a routine for a Christmas countdown, which tells you how many days until the big day, turns on your Christmas lights (with a smart plug), and plays festive music.
Alexa can help you brainstorm your ideal Christmas day menu, and even help you shop for the supplies you need.
Just say, “Alexa, how do you make gingerbread?” or “Alexa, how do you make mulled wine?”
