Amazon is paying customers to choose no rush delivery option

Amazon is paying customers to choose 'no rush' delivery options when ordering from the site.

Online retailer giant Amazon announced yesterday that they will be returning to business as usual with the delivery of non-essential items.

The e-commerce site had previously prioritised orders made on "household staples, medical supplies and other high-demand products" in their response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Amazon 's response to circumstances has been to hire somewhere in the region of 170,000 new workers since the beginning of March in their bid to cope with the excess demand.

Despite all orders being available once again for next-day delivery, the Amazon website has now added a new incentive to customers who are willing to wait.

At checkout, a new 'No Rush' option has been added and those who choose it are being given a £1 credit on orders made over £10.

The ongoing offer is open to Amazon's Prime members and is available through until May 14.

Credit is applied to orders made through the Amazon marketplace - not through orders made to third-party sellers - and excludes alcohol, baby and infant formula, gift cards and items sold within warehouse deals.

Amazon are also still urging shoppers to shop responsibly, adding that they are still seeing "a lot of community demand for basic household items".

They advise customers not to stockpile "and perhaps offer to help older neighbours, family or friends by sourcing items for them".
