Amazon is giving away Kindle Unlimited free for World Book Day

Amazon is opening up access to millions of books free for World Book Day.

The online giant is giving away a month of its unlimited book service, Kindle Unlimited, free in the form of a free trial. Users can sign up and get 30 days of access on Kindle devices, mobile phones and tablets which usually costs £7.99 per month.

If the free trial is cancelled before the month is over you will not pay a penny to access over one million books.

The subscription also includes magazines and thousands of audio books through Amazon's Audible service.

You can get the free month trial on the Amazon Kindle Unlimited website.

To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 5 March, the online store has also cut the price of some children's books to £1. Books include Amelia Fang and the Bookworm Gang, The Day We Met The Queen and Supertato: Books are Rubbish!

High street retailer Waterstones is also selling the World Book Day books for £1 a time online and in store.

You can see the full list of £1 books here or at Waterstones.

Amazon and Waterstones are not the only brand offering freebies for World Book Day. Supermarket Morrison's is offering anybody in a World Book Day costume a free cupcake, while Smyths is selling three for two on books including Never Touch a T-Rex and Room on the Broom.
