If you plan to do a lot of multitasking and get work done on the tablet, the Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus might be worthwhile thanks to the extra RAM and the compatibility with wireless charging. Amazon has stopped selling it though making it hard to find.

The 2023 Fire HD 10 is still the latest model which is now 25% faster and over 30 grams lighter than the previous model. The camera has also been bumped up to 5MP. It's the default 10-inch Fire TV tablet on sale right now ever since the Plus was discontinued.

But there's one huge caveat: neither tablet supports the Google Play Store. Instead, everything is downloaded through the Amazon App Store. You can always sideload the Play Store if you're so inclined.
Use software like Microsoft Office, OneNote, and DropBox with both, and connect to compatible smart home devices to control them right from the tablet. You could also do things like view live footage from a compatible smart security camera on the device's screen.
Both tablets feature Alexa for voice control, including Show Mode, which provides audible responses and lets you visually see responses on the screen. The third main difference is in the exterior finishes. While the Fire HD 10 Plus comes in a soft-touch slate color, the HD 10 comes in black, lilac, and ocean, providing more options and playful finishes that might appeal more to children.

While we love the extra specs like wireless charging that comes with the Fire HD 10 Plus, the fact is that Amazon has discontinued it making it hard to find online. In fact, it has removed wireless charging from all its current models. This leaves the 2023 Fire HD 10 as your only real option to consider.
This too is a pretty good option for the price considering it offers better performance and a better front camera compared to the Fire HD 10 Plus. Battery life is also said to have improved.
When looking for an affordable tablet for a young child, you might be better off with the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Pro. Designed specifically for older kids, it focuses on durability via the included bumper case along with parental controls and offers a diverse kid-appropriate content library.
Use with the wireless dock
The main difference between this model and the HD 10 is the addition of wireless charging and a bit more RAM. Sadly, Amazon has discontinued this model leaving the Fire HD 10 as your default choice.
Business or pleasure
The only feature you don't get with this version is wireless charging, and you'll have to sacrifice a bit on RAM. But this 2023 model has a faster processor and better front camera than the HD 10 Plus.
