Amazon Dunfermline fire: Warehouse evacuated as firefighters battle blaze in Dunfermline

One of Amazon's biggest warehouses was evacuated on Thursday evening after reports of fire at the site in Dunfermline, Fife.

Staff were forced to the leave building, which processes packages from the online retailer, as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to fight the blaze.

Five fire appliances raced to the scene, located near the the M90, which runs between South Queensferry and Perth.

Firefighters used thermal cameras and crews in breathing apparatus to help them fight the fire.

Emergency services were called to the Dunfermline East Business Park in Fife when the alarm was raised just after 9.30pm on Thursday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said the building was evacuated and there were no reports of any casualties.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze and the last appliance left the scene at about 1am.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “We got a call at 9.31pm to reports of a fire at Amazon warehouse in Dunfermline East Business Park.

“The fire was extinguished using four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and two thermal cameras.

“Crews were in attendance from Dunfermline and Lochgelly with a height appliance from Kirkcaldy.

“There are no reports of any injuries. The final crew left the scene after making the area safe at 1am.”

The Amazon building in Dunfermline is the size of 14 football pitches.

Fife Police said they were supporting the fire service on Thursday evening.

In a tweet they said: "There are no reports of any injuries and at this stage it is not thought to be suspicious."
