Amazon driver saves three puppies from burning home while out delivering parcels

We have a lot to thank our delivery drivers for, from bringing us urgent parcels on time to making sure our packages are left in a safe and secure place. One woman has gone above and beyond her role as an Amazon delivery worker after saving the lives of three precious pups who were trapped inside a house fire.

Although there were no people at home, the family's three Boston terriers were present when the unidentified female noticed smoke wafting from the property in Florida, US. She immediately stopped delivering parcels and called 911 to alert a crew of firefighters to the scene.

According to Columbia County Fire Rescue, the blaze broke out on Tuesday at a house in Lake City, a city in the northern part of the state.

The Amazon worker called first responders just in time for a fire crew to arrive and extinguish the flames, while rescuing the three young dogs.

"Thank you to the Amazon driver who noticed the smoke and called 911," the department said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

"Since the homeowner was not at home at the time, she saved the home and the puppies' lives!"

The rescue workers were able to save and revive the pups from smoke inhalation and keep the blaze contained to a single room.

Hundreds of people have praised the good Samaritan for her quick-thinking actions and hailed her a "hero" online.

"Driver of the year!" someone said, while another wrote: "Thank you for being at the right place and at the right time."

Homeowner Lauren Sutton commented a heartfelt message on the post, reading: "Thank you for saving my babies."

Her mum also dedicated a special message to the Amazon carrier and firefighters, and provided an update on the dogs' wellbeing.

"They are doing well this morning but still in the hospital. Thank you will never be enough!" she said.

She continued to explain that the pets suffered "significant lung damage" but "seem to be stabilising" and have started eating.

Mum-of-one Lauren lives in the home with her seven-month-old daughter and three dogs, three-year-old Winnifred, four-year-old Quinny and seven-year-old Zoey.

The 31-year-old told USA Today that she was incredibly grateful to all involved who helped save her precious pets.

"I am eternally grateful and will never be able to thank Angelina (the Amazon driver), the firefighters, and the sheriffs deputies enough for saving my dogs' lives," she said.
