Amazon driver caught letting himself into woman's home to leave parcel inside

Amazon have launched an investigation after a customer posted a video showing a driver letting himself into her home to deliver a package.

Rufaro Chitima, from Dudley, West Midlands, was left speechless by the clip, which shows the driver opening her front door last week.

The 30-year-old was later told by Amazon that the parcel "had been handed to the resident" in an email following the delivery.

As the clip begins, the delivery man is seen standing outside Rufaro's door clutching an Amazon package.

Without even knocking first, he grabs the handle and pushes down to open the door wide.

He bends down and deposits the package inside the hall, leaning over the doorstep to tuck it in.

He then shuts the door behind him and walks off without a second glance.

A few seconds later, the door opens again as Rufaro's partner looks to see how the parcel ended up inside.

Rufaro received an email shortly after the delivery asking her to rate the driver's performance.

The email from September 3 states: "Parcel was handed to resident".

Aesthetics practitioner Rufaro took to social media to complain to Amazon shortly after the delivery.

She posted the clip saying: "Lost for words. When did it become acceptable for an Amazon driver to let themselves into your home?"

Speaking on Monday she added: "I was just shocked. My partner was in the house with our 2-year-old at the time and he heard the door open and shut.

"He initially thought it was me, but then realised I was still at work and was shocked. He went outside and the man quickly drove off.

"There was just no attempt to even knock the door."

Amazon confirmed it was looking into the incident.

An Amazon spokeswoman said: "We have reached out to the customer to offer our support.

"We have investigated the matter and are taking appropriate action."
