Amazon blasted for selling fascist flags and clothing accessories online

Angry anti-racism campaigners have slammed the sale of fascist flags on Amazon.

Adverts on the popular online market place offered the banner of the British Union of Fascists - a 1930s party notorious for its support of Adolf Hitler and anti-Semitic propaganda.

One ad was flogging full-size flags in the BUF’s distinctive design, while another offered patches “perfect for attaching to clothing.”

The US-based tech giant removed the ads after being approached by the Daily Record for comment.

Weyman Bennett, co-convener of Stand Up To Racism, said: “The British Union of Fascists were allies of Adolf Hitler and were directly culpable in the mass murder of 20 million people across Europe, based on Nazi ideals.

“It’s an insult to the generation that defeated them that these people fell they can make a sale based on the mass murder of people based on a racist ideal.”

The far-right BUF was formed in 1932 by Oswald Mosley with supporters known as the ‘Blackshirts’.

It was finally banned by the British government in 1940 during Second World War amid fears supporters might form a pro-Nazi fifth column.
