Amazing video shows otter catching his breakfast in Holyrood Park loch

A rare video has captured an otter hunting and eating his breakfast in Holyrood Park.

The video, shot by a Holyrood Park ranger yesterday morning (Monday August 3) shows the creature catching food in Dunsapie Loch.

Holyrood is home to a number of species including otters, owls and pheasants as well as the usual park staples like ducks, swans, crows and squirrels.

The video was tweeted out by Holyrood Ranger Gordon, a ranger who works in the park for Historic Environment Scotland.

Sharing the video yesterday he said: "Lovely start to a Monday morning as I watched this otter catch his breakfast."

Otters are beleived to inhabit two of the park's three lochs and the elusive cretures can sometimes be seen ranging between Duddingston loch and Dungsapie loch at dusk and dawn.
