Amazing photo shows Neowise comet over Ireland

This picture shows the 'comet of the century' above Irish skies.

The Neowise comet will be at its most visible this week with it being at its closest point to the earth.

Snappers all over Ireland have been capturing the comet spectacularly and sharing their images all over social media.

Cormac Coyne in Galway took the above amazing photo of the meteorite over the bay a little over a week ago.

All these other pictures also show exactly what you should be looking out for and how easy it should be to spot.

Here's all you need to know about where and when to look in the sky to find it.

Where to look and what time

Firstly you need to try and find somewhere where you have an unobstructed view of the horizon, and just after sunset in the Northwest sky.

It will be visible just after sunset so around 8pm and onwards you should be able to get a glimpse if you have clear skies.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "For tonight, Monday July 20th, there will be mostly cloud free skies for many across Ireland, increasing your chances of seeing the #cometNEOWISE. However, thicker cloud will push into western parts towards dawn tomorrow. See animation below for more info."

It is expected to reach its closest point to Earth next Thursday, July 23.
