Amazing new plans show what 'UK Disneyworld' £3.5bn theme park will look like

A huge new theme park due to open in the UK in four years' time has moved a step closer to reality this week.

Nicknamed 'UK Disneyworld', the £3.5 billion resort has now reached public consultation stage.

The London Resort will be the biggest European theme park to be built since Disneyland Paris was constructed in 1992.

It has signed a deal with Paramount Studios, with rides based on BBC and ITV shows and Paramount films and ambitions to become one of the largest immersive experience resorts in the world.

Construction on the 535 acre site in Kent is due to start next year, covering an area the size of 136 Wembley Stadiums.

Eventually, the resort will house two different theme parks, known as 'gates' -  one is due to open in 2024 with the other scheduled for 2029.

The plans show that the resort will be split into seven zones, including The Jungle, The Woods, and The Kingdom.

A section of the park called 'High Street' will be situated near a central plaza, with a huge decorative arch into the park, and will boast a water park, restaurants, shops, a convention centre and a Radisson Blu hotel.

Factoring in the UK's weather, 70% of attractions will reportedly be undercover.

Plans are expected to be submitted for planning permission later this year, following the public consultation.

The consultation will seek to get the opinions of nearby residents and businesses, as well as stakeholders in the project.

Park bosses have also announced a partnership with EDF Energy with plans to make it the most sustainable theme park in the work with a Net Zero emissions goal.

It's expected to create around 30,000 jobs and will include roughly 3,500 hotel rooms.

Chief Executive of the project PY Gerbeau said: “This is a significant step in transforming an amazing and ambitious dream into reality.

“We obviously can’t hold a public consultation in the normal way – but we will make sure we reach out to local residents and businesses as well as the wider community and stakeholders.

"We are talking to Government about how we will be using digital technology, websites, video conferences and online Question and Answer Sessions."
