Amazing new images show what Legoland's multi-million pound Mythica land will look like

Legoland has shared a glimpse of its hotly-anticipated Mythica land, complete with the UK's first 'flying theatre' ride.

The Legoland Windsor Resort plans to open the new multi-million pound land, which will be themed around mythical creatures and has been created by children, this May.

At its heart will be the Flight of the Sky Lion, which will soar families around a magical landscape beneath the wings of the Sky Lion Maximus.

Standing at more than 25 metres tall, the ride will whisk visitors around meeting Lego Mythica characters, including the two-headed Hydra (Duo), the Fire and Ice Bird (Crystal Flame) and the Greek mythology-inspired Chimera creature.

The new Mythica land will also be home to two 13-metre-tall drop towers named Fire and Ice Freefall, and the Hydra's Challenge water attraction where guests steer their own vessel.

13 mythical creatures made from more than 1.7 million Lego bricks will be on display when the area opens to the public this spring.

Also set to feature will be the Creature Creation where guests can build their very own creatures; an adventure play area called Lava Dragon Play; and a character meet and greet experience, Creature Encounter.

The Legoland Windsor team partnered with Kids Industries to test and discuss ideas with children between seven and 11 years of age, who helped to develop to final concepts, names and characters.

Helen Bull, divisional director at the Legoland Windsor Resort, said: "We’re thrilled to be bringing the first Flying Theatre ride to the UK and today revealing all the rides and attractions which will make LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures a must-do experience for families in 2021.

"The whole country has never needed escapism more than they do right now and we’ve worked closely with children and their families to make sure our new land delivers the thrills for everyone, whether it’s their 25th visit to LEGOLAND Windsor or their very first."

Lego Mythica is expected to open on Saturday May 29, if Government restrictions allow.

Day tickets start from £29 per person, with kids under 90cm going free. Tickets are available from www.legoland.co.uk.
