It is one of the most famous hits by the Bee Gees but this version of Stayin’ Alive has a new message.

The Washington Warriors district nursing team have made their own version of the classic to encourage people to stay home during the coronavirus crisis.

Dressed in their blue uniforms, the team can be heard encouraging people to wash their hands and to stay inside to ‘Stay Alive’.

After being shared on social media, the video has been viewed almost 10,000 times.

It has been a hit with viewers who have praised their efforts, with one person saying: “Brilliant, well done all of you.”

Another wrote: “Well done everyone for all your hard work. I went cold watching the video. Thank you.”

One woman wrote: “And thank you for all you do for us and the risk you all are taking. Yous are all amazing” and another said: “Absolutely love it guys, thank you for being amazing and thank you for your continuous support for our staff and residents, so much love for you all.”

It comes after a further 917 deaths were confirmed in the UK on Saturday, with the total expected to reach more than 10,000 on Sunday.

Health secretary Matt Hancock confirmed 19 NHS workers have died from the virus.
