Amazing drone video shows how Meadows residents turned party rubbish into a heartbreaking message

Meadows residents have collected all the rubbish from last night’s huge impromptu party and arranged it into a stark and heartbreaking message.

Edinburgh Live previously reported how hundreds of people have been gathering on the Meadows to drink and party, leaving a sea of trash behind them.

Local residents have been waking up at the crack of dawn to clean the area alongside council workers for the last few days but this morning something incredible happened.

Artist Denny Hunter and his wife Alison Grieve organised local residents to came down to the Meadows at 5am this morning and arrange the sea of leftover litter into the number ‘2482’.

That is the number of people who have died from COVID-19 in Scotland.

It acts as a stark warning to anyone who plans to continue to gather and break social distancing rules during the current pandemic.

Watch the video above, filmed by Dode Allen Media, and you'll hear Alison narrate how the community came together to create this spontaneous artwork.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, artist Denny Hunter said: “It’s okay just walking across the Meadows and saying ‘that’s terrible’ but to actually see it put together into the numbers, that’s something else.”
