Amateur video captures police officers fleeing from crime scene moments before murder takes place in Mexico

Amateur footage has emerged showing police officers fleeing a crime scene in the town of Escuinapa, Sinaloa in Mexico, just moments before a 27-year-old man was dragged out of his house, beaten and fatally shot three times.

The video shows two armed officers jogging away from the commotion before fleeing in a truck.

The footage continues for another two minutes and within that time, Elías Constantino had been shot three times in the street.

The gunmen dumped his body on a highway around 75 miles from the shooting.

Bonifacio Bustamante, mayor of Escuinapa, speaking to VICE News, dubbed the officers’ retreat as “tactical retreat.”

"If the police had not fled and instead started shooting without a good strategy we could have had eight or 10 deaths.”

But, there has been public outrage since the video was published online at the weekend; and according to reports, four state and two municipal police officers have now been charged with homicide.
