Sadom Kaewkanjana.

>>Amateur Sadom Kaewkanjana came in first at the All Thailand Golf Tour's qualifying tournament in Nakhon Nayok yesterday.

Holding a two-shot advantage after three rounds, the 20-year-old closed with a five-under-par 66 for a 264 total at Watermill Golf Club and Resort.

The Narathiwat native is among 35 players who earned cards for the 2019 season, which begins at the Boonchu Ruangkit Championship in Nakhon Ratchasima next month.

Poom Pattaropong was second on 265 following a 65 while, Gunn Charoenkul, who hit a final-round 68, was third on 269.

Japanese-Thai Kosuke Hamamoto, a member of the Thai team that won the Nomura Cup title last year, also received a ticket to the 2019 ATGT season.

He was tied for fourth on 275 with Janne Kaske of Finland (67), who was among eleven golfers to get the cards.

Sadom, a member of the Nomura Cup-winning team, said it was the right time for him to play for money after representing the country for four years.

"I have gained a lot of experience playing for Thailand,'' he said.

One of the country's leading amateur golfers, he has shone at professional tournaments winning the Pattaya Open last year and finishing joint sixth at the Queen's Cup in July.

Other players who earned ATGT cards include Yoshinobu Tsukada of Japan, Myanmar's Kyaw Thet Oo and Napat Paramacharoenroj.
