An Irish-based amateur photographer who was taking pics while on holiday in Liverpool was stunned when three police cars arrived because they thought his life was in danger.
Dave Thompson had just finished taking photos of the city’s dockland area from a local flyover bridge when cops pulled up alongside.
The confused snapper was told a local had notified the police of a concern for his safety, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Mr Thompson, 56, said he saw the flyover is a perfect spot to take a photo of the dock area - but due to living in an rural area in County Kerry, he doesn’t get too many opportunities to take urban photography.
He said: “I thought it would be a good idea to walk up the flyover and take a picture.
“I didn’t realise people would be watching and I think a local neighbourhood watch called the police.
“After I’d finished I was walking down and a police car pulled up and asked if I was okay.
“Before I know it another car pulls up from the Bootle direction and another from Crosby. There were six officers in attendance.
“I explained I was just taking pictures and they told me that was okay - someone was just fearing [for my safety].
“I felt guilty for wasting their time but they were very good about it.
“The police should be commended. They were very, very nice and responded so quickly.
“I’m not pleased I made them go to the trouble, but I’m pleased they would go to the trouble.
“It’s just a shame they didn’t arrive five minutes earlier because if they’d driven through the photograph with their blue flashing lights it would have been really good.”
