FRISCO, Texas _ The Dallas Cowboys still have a decision to make regarding receiver Amari Cooper.
Either sign him to a long-term deal by March 12 _ the deadline to place the franchise tag on Cooper or quarterback Dak Prescott _ or chance exposing him to the rest of the league on the free-agent market.
As far as Cooper is concerned, there is no decision to make for him. He has consistently said he wants to remain with the Cowboys and nothing has changed on that.
"I love being a Dallas Cowboy. I love everything about it. I think about it every day," Cooper said on 105.3 The Fan Thursday night. "Just the aura of being a Dallas Cowboy, you can't beat it. I want to be a Cowboy for life."
Typical of Cooper, who just returned from vacationing in Bali, he is not fazed by the contract uncertainty.
He is working out every day and is finally fully healthy after of the toughest season of his career in regards to injuries.
Despite battling foot, ankle and thigh injuries for much of 2019, Cooper still led the Cowboys in catches (79), receiving yards (1,189) and touchdowns (8).
He also earned his second straight trip to the Pro Bowl since joining the team in a mid-season trade with the Oakland Raiders in 2018.
His focus is building on his success in Dallas.
"I am good now," Cooper said. "I feel good. I run all the time. The No. 1 emphasis is taking care of the body. Focused on that."
To that end, staying in Dallas and continuing to play with Prescott is very important to him.
"We have built a good relationship so far," Cooper said. "I wouldn't try to trade that for anything."
Cooper said he has yet to speak with new Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy. But he is impressed by his resume as a former Super Bowl champion coach with the Green Bay Packers and he is excited to learn from him.
"He is an accomplished coach," Cooper said. "It's always good to have that experience and learned from it. I have never been to the Super Bowl. To be part of the culture he is bringing, think it means the world."
Cooper praised emerging-receiver Michael Gallup as a player who proved he can make plays when opponents double him. Gallup had 66 catches for 1,107 yards and 6 touchdowns in his sophomore season in the NFL.
Cooper is excited about the player Gallup can develop into as he continues to refine his game.
And Cooper acknowledged he has heard the talk of former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant wanting to rejoin the team in 2020. Not only would be open to playing with the team's all-time leader in touchdown receptions, Cooper said he would try to learn something from Bryant.
"I think it would be great," Cooper said. "Obviously, Dez was a great player. When I was in college and even in my first couple of years in the league, he was still considered one of the top-five receivers in the game. I don't think that's something you just lose, especially with the way Dez's game is. I think he can come back and be a dominant player."
"Of course, I want to play with him. I know that I can learn something from him.
