Amani Oruwariye tabbed as Lions’ biggest draft steal

It was shocking for fans and draft media alike to see Penn State cornerback Amani Oruwariye fall to the third day of the 2019 NFL Draft. The big CB was widely projected as a second- or third-round pick, with teams passing him over for players who generally weren’t as well-regarded until the Lions plucked him in the fifth round.

As the No. 146 overall pick, Oruwariye’s fall was Detroit’s gain. The new Lions cornerback is widely tabbed as one of the biggest steals of the 2019 NFL Draft. Several pundits named Oruwariye as the Lions’ best draft value.

From our brother site Draft Wire to Pro Football Focus and The Athletic, Oruwariye came up in scads of “draft steal” articles. We here at Lions Wire feel the same way. Amani Oruwariye, draft steal!
