Amanda Staveley clarifies roles in new look Newcastle United boardroom

Amanda Staveley has clarified her role at Newcastle United after the club's boardroom reshuffle.

The co-owner acted as the day-to-day spearhead at St James' Park in the immediate aftermath of the club takeover. But the club swooped earlier this year to secure the services of Dan Ashworth as sporting director and Darren Eales as CEO.

Speaking about the appointments, Staveley told of how the boardroom is now taking shape.

Speaking about the summer arrival of Eales, Staveley told the club website: "He has an incredible track record of running football clubs so this was a great appointment. Obviously I have my duties as a board member led by Yasir Al-Rumayyan.

"And the board is there to develop the strategy and the growth of the club. It's Newcastle United and it's the best club in the world.

"Mehrdad and I will work alongside Darren and Dan Ashworth and Eddie Howe our head coach to make sure the club is progressing and going forward. "

Staveley's partner Mehrdad Ghodoussi is also keen to watch the club grow in the next decade or so.

Mehrdad Ghodoussi said: "The success we have had over the last 12 months is incredible, but we have worked as a family and a team.

"Everybody is rowing in the same direction which is wonderful to watch, we look forward to the next 12 months, the next five years, the next 10 years."
