Film festivals are sometimes tough. So much is happening all at the same time and fans have to figure out exactly who they should be looking out for. But then you have stars like Amanda Seyfried who use their time to shine to do the funniest possible thing.
Seyfried was in Venice for her film, The Testament of Ann Lee, and while she had a beautifully emotional reaction to the film’s 15-minute ovation, she ended up making headlines for her press conference look. Why? It was the same outfit that Julia Roberts wore earlier in the festival for the press for After the Hunt, the Luca Guadagnino movie she is starring in.
At first, people were worried that a stylist wasn’t paying attention and the two stars accidentally ended up in the same outfit. Then, fans realized that Seyfried had, days prior, said to stylist Elizabeth Stewart that she wanted the same look. Stewart posted on Instagram on August 30 a video of Roberts’ look.
In the comments, Seyfried wrote “Please let me wear the same outfit.” And while the comment may have been taken as a joke originally, it ended up happening. Stewart posted an image of Seyfried days later, writing “Thank you, Julia Roberts, for your generosity and sustainability. Sharing is caring!” She also noted that Seyfried borrowed Roberts’ Versace photo call look for her own.
On the one hand, this is absolutely hilarious. Everyone was talking about the two looks and then, in turn, talking about the film, but it is just a lot of fun which doesn’t typically happen at film festivals. On the other hand, they are promoting sustainability and Stewart is also, seemingly the same designer who works with Cate Blanchett, who also wore her SAG Awards dress to Venice this year!
In an industry that constantly promotes waste, especially with fashion, be more like Stewart, Roberts, Seyfried, and Blanchett.
