Amanda Serrano pays tribute to Katie Taylor after Dublin defeat

Amanda Serrano has paid tribute to her old foe Katie Taylor for going up in weight to take on Chantelle Cameron.

Taylor, a Lightweight by trade, went up a full weight class to take on undisputed Super-Lightweight champion Cameron in a losing effort at the 3Arena on Saturday night.

The Bray Bomber left it all in the ring but was ultimately outpointed by the impressive Cameron.

After the bout, Serrano - who had been due to fight Taylor but was replaced by Cameron after suffering an injury - showed respect for her former opponent and congratulated Cameron on getting the job done.

"Congratulations to @chantellecam on a Great win," Tweeted Serrano.

"Hats off to @KatieTaylor for going up a weight class vs the Champion.

"It’s not that easy going up in weight but that’s what you do when you believe in yourself. Great Night for Women’s boxings"

Serrano and Taylor are no strangers to each other and faced off at Madison Square Garden last year.

Taylor emerged victorious in an all-time classic encounter, though rumours of a rematch between the pair have been plentiful in the time since that contest.

The duo were due to meet last Saturday in Dublin, but an injury to Serrano put an end to those hopes.

Talk of a rematch persists however and Croke Park has been mooted as a potential venue for the fight.

Taylor will undoubtedly fancy another crack at Cameron however and should get one soon given that Cameron's coach Jamie Moore has claimed Taylor had a rematch clause in her contract.
