Amanda Serrano dismisses Katie Taylor rematch following Chantelle Cameron loss

Amanda Serrano dismissed a potential rematch with Katie Taylor following the Bray native's split decision loss to Chantelle Cameron on Saturday night.

The 3 Arena played host to the 36-year-old as she moved up to 140 pounds to fight Cameron in her first professional boxing match in Ireland.

Taylor defeated Serrano in Madison Square Garden last year. However, the Puerto Rico boxer rules out a potential rematch if Taylor loses again.

"Maybe (my rematch with Taylor) will (only) be delayed," Serrano told The MMA Hour.

"If she comes out on top with the rematch, beating Cameron, which I don’t think that will happen. But if it does, maybe the rematch with me will happen. I just hope that Katie does the right thing and she wins.”

Serrano agreed with the decision as she scored most of the rounds in Cameron's favour.

Overall, the 34-year-old was happy for Cameron as she preserved her undefeated record and handed Taylor her first professional loss.

I don’t think it’s a good fight — our rematch is definitely off the table (if Taylor loses again). I don’t know what Katie’s gonna want to do after that, if she’s gonna retire, or — I don’t know. I know my career’s going to continue."

“I feel the right woman won," added Serrano on Taylor's loss to Cameron.

"It was a good fight, close fight, once again it was a great fight for women in the sport of boxing. We’re growing it and I’m super excited to see it. I had it 8-2, at worst 7-3. I think Cameron deserved and she got the win, and I’m happy she did."
