Amanda Owen's husband admits blame for breakup amid 'drinking and bad behaviour'

Amanda Owen's husband Clive has taken full responsibility for the breakdown in their marriage of 22 years.

Amanda and Clive, 68, share nine children together and rose to fame on their Channel 5 show Our Yorkshire Farm but announced they would be parting ways last year.

It was recently reported that Amanda has since moved on. The presenter has been linked with Robert Davies, a businessman she met five years ago after hiring him to launch a website to promote her work after she shot to fame the year prior.

Robert's fourth wife issued a stark warning to Amanda, 48, calling Robert, 71, "charming but ruthless" and warning he "gets bored easily" and claims he's obsessed with fame and fortune, The Mirror reported.

And her estranged husband Clive, 68, appeared on ITV's Lorraine on Thursday where he spoke openly about their breakup to stand-in host Christine Lampard where he took admitted blame for the breakdown of their marriage.

Speaking on the ITV show today, he said: "It's a tough time for Amanda now and I think it's only right because I don't do social media to speak out. We filmed Our Yorkshire Farm, people loved it and it was an opportunity to make something as a family. That was what drove her. It was amazing and very successful but I handled it very badly.

"It was such a change in our lives and I sadly made a right mess of things basically. I had a massive part to play in the relationship ending. A massive part to play. I was ranting and raving and drinking and carrying on. I don't know - jealousy."

He added: "It seemed to eat away at me and I handled it badly and I behaved badly towards her. I should have been supportive ... It's been really upsetting, Amanda's having a tough time at the moment. I just feel I can't sit back. I have to say something in her defence, she's a remarkable woman. We just got to the point where we couldn't be together anymore."

Amanda and Clive confirmed their split last year in a joint statement where they spoke of their "difficult decision" to call it quits on their long-term marriage.

They said at the time: "Clive and I are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate. This hasn't been easy, but we both believe it's the right choice for the future of our family.

"Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with our number one priority being the happiness and well-being of our children."

Amanda is said to be absolutely 'smitten' with her new romance with Robert as the pair are reportedly "inseparable" from one another, though they have yet to publicly confirm or deny the rumoured romance.

A source claimed to The Sun: "Amanda and Robert have known each other many years - long before her split. Now he travels everywhere with her and they’ve become seemingly inseparable."

Robert's fourth wife Jan Coates, 72, issued a warning to Amanda after hearing the news, saying: "He is very charming but he is also very ruthless in the way he treats people.

"I think he gets bored easily. I can see what's happened. He loves fame and fortune. Once somebody is in love with someone they don't want to know. I would just say be very careful and think about your children."
