Amanda Holden teases big plans for future of travel show with Alan Carr

Amanda Holden and Alan Carr are about to start filming series four of their hit BBC travel renovation show and already have big plans for series five.

So far they have put their stamp on Italy and Spain and are heading to Greece later this month, but there is one location the Britain’s Got Talent judge says they would both “kill” to take the cameras to.

Speaking to The Standard, Holden said: “I would imagine maybe France or Turkey, the scheme even works in Japan - we would both kill to go to Japan but I keep saying to him maybe we just pitch a travel show next and be done with it.

“We’ll be the next Judith Chalmers or maybe we’ll join Gary Barlow on a travelogue, just the two of us, we’ll bring back Wish You Were Here.”

One thing is for sure, viewers can’t get enough of the real life best friends on screen and Holden is more than up for giving the people what they want.

Teasing what they can expect from series four and that rumours of a Christmas special are true, she said: “We’re going out to Corfu to bash a house down and get on the Saganaki and Ouzo - that will be our drink of choice while we’re out there and handling power tools.

“Greece is like a dream come true for us because Alan came on holiday with me, Chris and the girls last year and fell in love with Corfu. He also shot Mama Mia there which was the ABBA show with the lovely Zoe Ball. We were like god, if we can find a house here wouldn’t that be a dream come true. So that’s happened and we’ve already made a Christmas special for this year.”

The Christmas special was shot in the Andalusia region of southern Spain - Malaga to be exact, and will bring some much needed sunshine over the festive period.

Holden has plenty else to keep her busy too as she can currently be seen taking her usual place behind the Britain’s Got Talent judges desk.

This autumn she will host new BBC quiz show The Inner Circle, and the self-confessed biscuit fan recently got the chance to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives.

Attending the launch of The McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives Experience, an immersive pop-up in London, Holden kicked off proceedings by reciting an “Ode to the McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives” – essentially a tongue in cheek love letter to the pantry favourite.

She joked she even dressed the part in a chocolate brown-coloured PVC dressed.

Probed on which of her fellow BGT judges she would be most likely to share a biscuit with, she replied: “Probably Alesha [Dixon] because she’s probably the only one who would eat one. Bruno [Tonioli] always watches his figure and I think Simon [Cowell] might break his veneers on one as I put mine in the fridge!”
