Amanda Holden 'takes swipe' at Phillip Schofield in cryptic post after This Morning exit

Amanda Holden appears to have taken a dig at Philip Schofield, years after their infamous feud. It comes after the TV host announced today that he was leaving This Morning following weeks of controversy.

The telly star is no stranger to a squabble and previously cut ties with Amanda on the ITV programme, with reports he never wanted the current BGT judge to star alongside him, reports the Mirror.

Amanda, 52, has never been quiet about her experience with Phillip, previously admitting to Heart Radio that she once extended an olive branch to him, which he ignored. Now, following his exit from This Morning, the star has taken to Instagram to share a cryptic post.

The mum-of-two shared a bicep curl emoji, which is often used to show support and strength to people. Her post- which has thousands of likes- was soon flooded with comments, with former Coronation Street star Charlie Condou penning: "Exactly."

"I know what that's for," joked a second. A third commented: "No Holden back for sure, YES AMANDA!" "Here's to strong women and men who try and move them on when they try and stand up to them. It’s been along time coming but thanks to karma," added another.

Amanda replaced Holly on This Morning when she was presenting I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! but, according to reports, Phillip decided Rochelle Humes was the perfect fit.

When Amanda secured the gig, Phillip was reportedly furious, and at the time, a source told The Sun on Sunday: "Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced — and having been told privately she'd got the gig.

"She feels Phil unfairly used his powers of persuasion. She was told he’d chosen Rochelle because she was easier to “manage” on air – and understandably that incensed her."

Speaking in 2019, Amanda addressed the situation, explaining to her radio co-host Jamie Theakston: "I've moved on from it, Jamie, you need to move on from it. I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn't reply to my text. What can I say?"

After weeks of speculation surrounding his future on This Morning, Phillip announced his departure – just two days after his last appearance on the show. In a statement, the former host said: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

"Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

"So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."
