Amanda Holden stuns BGT fans over 'eat my knickers' comment to singer Tom Ball

Amanda Holden shocked Britain's Got Talent viewers with a strange comment about "eating" her underwear.

The 51-year-old judge made the remarks during Sunday's grand final following the sensational performance of singing history teacher Tom Ball.

Ball, 23, wowed the judges at the audition stage with a cover of Sam Smith's James Bond soundtrack Writing's on the Wall before a wonderful rendition of Rise Like A Phoenix - Austria's Eurovision-winning song by Conchita in 2014 - which saw him win the third semi-final of series.

However, he saved the best performance until last when he did a stunning version of Tom Jones' song I Who Have Nothing at London's Hammersmith Apollo on Sunday evening.

All four judges were up on their feet as Tom finished the power ballad, with Amanda left almost speechless.

She said: "I am dead. I am just dead Mr Ball. That was an unbelievable, unforgettable performance and if you're not at the London Palladium by the end of the year I will eat my knickers."

The remaining three judges - David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell - were confused by Amanda's claim as were the viewers at home.

One wrote on Twitter : "Did Amanda just say 'I'll eat my knickers' ??"

Another posted: "'I will eat my knickers' why? Why does she always have to have that sexual element to it?"

A third person said: "So Amanda is gunna eat her knickers? Not the right words to go by but we move on".

A fourth wrote: "Amanda eating her knickers wasn’t what I wanted in my mind on a Sunday night".

David certainly enjoyed Tom's final performance, he exclaimed: "I want to start the Tom Ball fan club and I am the first permanent member!

"I was thinking about you this week and I was thinking 'well he's got the talent and if he picks the right song he could win Britain's Got Talent', and that was an incredible choice and just the most incredible delivery. My goodness me!"

Former Mis-Teeq star Alesha declared his display as "perfection". She said: "Looking back it was like you were in third gear in the auditions then you went into fourth gear in the semi-finals and then you just went to fifth gear, pulled that one from your back pocket like it was nothing.

"The way you were grounded and centred in that performance to reach that pinnacle moment at the end was perfection. Congratulations Tom, you smashed it."

Simon was left dumbfounded by the history teacher's act and hailed his talent.

He said: "You know what Tom, I think so far you have been really, really, really, really good and I thought coming into the final, 'what a fantastic line-up we have tonight, I'm really happy and I really like everyone'.

"And I thought it was a cute story, a teacher with a good voice, tonight you were a teacher with an amazing voice. I mean seriously, that final note was unbelievable.

"Whether you like that type of music or not, it doesn't matter, talent is talent and I really now seeing your lane which is West End, leading part.

"You are interesting, talented, a nice person. I mean, amazing."

Tom finished third in Britain's Got Talent 2022, finishing behind winner comedian Axel Blake and young ventriloquist Jamie Leahey.
