Amanda Holden says she's 'depressed and in tears' as daughter reaches major milestone

Amanda Holden was left in tears and feeling depressed after her youngest daughter finished prep school.

The Britain's Got Talent judge opened up on the emotional day with her Heart Breakfast co-host Jamie Theakson as she confessed that she cried while picking Hollie up from school. Amanda, 52, shares Hollie, 11, and 17-year-old Alexa with her husband Chris Hughes.

Recalling her boozy day out and emotional moment with her daughter Hollie, Amanda told listeners: "I’m not gonna lie. I feel a bit depressed today. I think there might be lots of mummy and daddies that feel like me today.

"I went down to the prep gate of my daughter’s school yesterday to watch her and all her little friends who she’s been at that school with since she was four leave."

Amanda continued: "They all came out of the gates, all in tears… except my daughter. It was like, 'I don’t know why everyone’s crying, mummy, we’re gonna see them in year seven in the mix school'.

"And I’m like, 'it’s an end of an era'."

Jamie then asked: ‘Hang on, you were in tears?’ to which Amanda replied: ‘Well, I was absolutely fine until I gave one of my favourite teachers a hug. I gave her a cuddle and then I started crying.’

Amanda added on air that she made sure to celebrated in style with the other mums as their children marked the milestone.

‘Every year me and my lovely school all go to the park and have a picnic. A liquid picnic," she told listeners. "We all take our picnics and blankets and yesterday our brollies. We sat under the brollies reminiscing with our rosé.’

Following on from that Jamie was quick to ask for the details. He asked: "How long... when did it start?"

She was quick to reply saying: "Well it started at 12…" Looking for all of the details Jamie asked: "When did it finish?"

Amanda quipped back in response: "You're like my dad…. seven o'clock…"
