Amanda Holden jokes she's next in line to host Strictly with Davina McCall

Amanda Holden has joked she and Davina McCall are next in line to serve as hosts on Strictly Come Dancing.

The actress and presenter, 50, revealed she has her eyes on the coveted gig, and warned current hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman that she's gunning for their jobs.

" @davinamccall and I are taking the PLUNGE together," Amanda wrote, alongside a snap of her with Davina on Instagram.

"exciting project on the way. ( oh and if @tessdaly & @claudiawinkle need a night off....) #twinning," she joked.

In the picture, the former Big Brother host is grinning widely for the camera while wearing a chic hot pink trouser suit, and Amanda looks stunning in a silver sparkly strappy gown.

Tess and Claudia have co-hosted the hit BBC One dancing competition since 2014, after Sir Bruce Forsyth retired from hosting duties in 2013.

The much-loved TV icon passed away in 2017, at the age of 89.

Amanda currently serves as a judge on ITV's Britain's Got Talent, as well as BBC One show I Can See Your Voice, but that's not stopping her from taking over TV screens.

It was recently announced that she would be fronting her own fly-on-the-wall show for E4, which will follow her as she moves in with her beloved grandmother.

The eight-part series, cheekily titled No Holden Back, will document her “unique relationship” with her nan Myrtle, as well as other members of her extended family.

In a statement, the mother-of-two said she was overjoyed to finally give viewers an insight into where she gets her wicked sense of humour from.

"I’m delighted that everyone is finally going to meet my nan, the apple never falls far from my tree and in this series she will certainly be keeping me on my toes," she shared.

The star has already spent several weeks filming for the show, but any further details have been kept under wraps.

Amanda also launched her solo singing career last year, and released her debut album Songs from My Heart, which features covers of show tunes and previous chart hits.

However, she was forced to defend her foray into music during an episode of I Can See Your Voice, when one of the contestants asked if she "wanted to be a professional singer".

“I am a professional singer," she fired back, before co-judge Jimmy Carr leapt to her defence.

“She had a number one album last year. I’m just mentioning that because I don’t want her to have to mention it again - every show," he quipped.
