Amanda Holden forced to apologise after swearing on Britain's Got Talent during 'terrifying' performance

Amanda Holden was forced to apologise after swearing live on air during the first Britain's Got Talent semi-final.

Holden clamped her hand over her mouth after screaming "f***" as she joined The Haunting on stage during Monday night's show.

"I just really want to apologise. I said a really terrible word," Holden said before giving her feedback. "I know there are kids watching - I know my kids are watching - so [a] massive apology.

"But I can honestly say I feel terrified. It is a terrifying, amazing [and] thrilling experience. But I wouldn't want anybody to go through that."

As she did in the audition, Holden joined performer Elizabeth on stage to help out with the act but was left shaking with fear as the routine progressed.

The act had begun with Holden meeting a mysterious ghost before listening to a rendition of Rock-A-Bye Baby before a mirror shattered into tiny pieces.

Next, Elizabeth led Holden out to the audience with one hand on her shoulder before Holden dropped her sweary blunder, immediately putting her hand to her mouth.

The haunting magic act earned a wild applause from the audience, as Holden regained her composure and tried to hold it together during the feedback.

Earlier in the show, Holden's fellow judge Alesha Dixon revealed she is "over the moon" to be expecting her second child after Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly revealed her pregnancy.

The hosts had announced the happy news in their glitzy opening number, with Dixon standing up to show off her blossoming bump.

Britain's Got Talent continues all week at 7.30pm and 9.30pm on ITV.
