Amanda Holden explains personal and emotional meaning behind Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Amanda Holden has revealed that her new song from her forthcoming album was written as an emotional tribute to her stillborn son and youngest daughter Hollie.

The 49-year-old has recorded Somewhere Over The Rainbow in a bid to raise money for frontline NHS staff, and has revealed the deep meaning behind her decision to release the song.

Speaking to Sky News, Amanda said she "owes her life" to NHS staff - who had helped her after her baby son Theo was "born sleeping".

The NHS saved her life later on when she suffered  horrendous complications after the birth of her daughter Hollie that left her in a coma.

She explained: "Over The Rainbow seemed like an obvious choice to release for NHS charities together because the rainbow seems to have been the symbol of hope and the symbol of new beginnings. It's in every single household window and it was already on the album."

When quizzed on her decision to release her first ever single at this time, Amanda said: "I would never have released this single had there been no pandmeic. Every single penny of the downloads go straight to NHS charities."

She continued: "Every song on my album has got a story behind it and has something to do with my family. It's been well documented that my husband and I had a child that was born sleeping - our son Theo.

"Somewhere Over The Rainbow was on the album because my daughter Hollie was born the following year and when you've lost a child, you often call the child that comes next your rainbow baby."

She added: "The NHS was involved in both of those stories and I owe them everything, I owe them my life."

In 2011, at seven months pregnant with son Theo, a scan revealed his heart had stopped and she later underwent a Caesarean to deliver him.

Just a year after the tragic loss of her son, Amanda was left fighting for her life after she suffered a haemorrhage during the birth of her daughter Hollie.

Amanda pulled through and so did Hollie, now eight.

The Britain's Got Talen judge is also mum to another daughter, 14-year-old Alexa, known as Lexi.

Amanda's charity single is raising money for NHS Charities amid the  coronavirus  outbreak, and every penny of revenue will go straight to NHS charities.
