Amanda Holden dresses up as Dorothy as she joins stars in celebrating World Book Day

Amanda Holden marked World Book Day by dressing up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz on Thursday morning, as her Heart Radio co-stars were also seen in costume.

World Book Day is an annual event celebrated by children around the UK, and Holden, 52, Jamie Theakston and Ashley Roberts were seen also celebrating, as they portrayed the iconic characters from children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.

In photos shared on Instagram, the trio were seen in the Heart Radio offices posing up a storm as they were dressed up as Dorothy, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion.

Holden was pictured as Dorothy rocking pigtails while sporting a blue gingham mini dress with a white blouse and a petticoat, showing off her legs, and wore shiny red court heels representing Dorothy’s iconic sparkly red slippers.

The radio presenter was seen in one clip added on Instagram Stories skipping along the corridors while holding onto a straw basket, staying very much in character.

“I’ve got a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore, #worldbookday#wizardofoz @thisisheart,” Holden captioned.

Theakston, 52, modelled just as impressive a costume, dressed head-to-toe in a silver outfit as the Tin Man, with a matching askew hat.

The co-host showed full commitment to his look as his face was painted silver also.

Roberts, 41, was seen in full costume as the Lion, which consisted of a form-fitting jumpsuit with a furry neckline and cuffs, and a long tail.

The former Pussycat Dolls star also wore a headband with sticking-up ears and had her lips and nose painted black for the final finishing touch.

Elsewhere, Rochelle Humes was seen gushing over her three children as they were pictured dressed up for World Book Day before heading off to school.

Humes, 33, posted snaps of her brood on Instagram Stories, as she said she “couldn’t cope” with how cute her kids looked in costume.

The presenter’s son Blake, two, dressed as pirate from the Peppa and the Pirates book, while youngest daughter Valentina, five, portrayed Isadora Moon and eldest daughter Alaia-Mai, nine, dressed as Kirsty Thomas from the Babysitters’ Club.

Helen Flanagan posted a photo of her three children, shared with ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair, on World Book Day also, as they dressed up as Spiderman, Sticky Man, and Wednesday from The Addams Family.

Kerry Katona’s eight-year-old daughter Dylan-Jorge also dressed up as the iconic gothic character, and was seen modelling her costume in photos shared by the star.
