Amanda Holden almost joined Mile High Club with husband Chris Hughes

Amanda Holden almost joined the Mile High Club with husband Chris Hughes – but they chickened out at the last minute.

The presenter, 50, made the confession during an interview on Alan Carr’s podcast Life’s a Beach, and said she 'had a go' at getting intimate while on a plane with her record producer husband.

However, Amanda said they backed out of their raunchy plan as they realised too many other passengers could’ve spotted them.

When quizzed by comedian Alan over if she’d ever had sex on a plane, the radio presenter replied: “Well, we've had a go, but we never quite made it. There's too much scrutiny.

"Everyone's watching. There's no way you can do that."

Despite failing in her attempt to join the Mile High Club, Amanda did reveal that she sunbathes completely naked while on holiday.

However, she was quick to point out that she only ever strips off in the privacy of her own villa, and not on a nudist beach.

"I never wear a bikini on holiday. But I wouldn't mix with other nudists. There's a difference,” the mum-of-two insisted.

"I have served the Sunday lunch naked. But no, I would never get my n*nny out in public. In a private villa, yes,” Amanda laughed.

The Britain's Got Talent judge met record producer Chris in 2003, and romance blossomed, with the pair going public with their romance in 2004.

They wed in 2008, and are parents to daughters Alexa, 15, and Hollie, nine.

Elsewhere in the interview with funnyman Alan, Amanda vented her fury at having to fork out thousands of pounds on Covid tests to fly to Portugal over the half-term holidays last month.

The Heart Breakfast co-presenter said she had spent over £2,500 on the tests so she and her family could fly out to the sun-soaked destination, and slammed the protocols surrounding travel abroad.

“We went from the Friday to the Friday, but getting there cost over £2,500 in tests, which I don't want to rant on and on about it, but I think that is taking advantage of the British public,” she fumed.

“I'm in a position where I can afford to chuck that money. It's a huge amount of money - someone's taking the p**s,” Amanda added.

She then called for “some sort of inquiry” into how much she was forced to spend to buy private Covid tests for her family, but said it was worth the money to jet off to Portugal for a week.

“It was worth it in the sense that we got away as a family, because so many other people didn't get away,” she raged.

“But never again am I paying that sort of money. There should be some sort of inquiry into that.”
