Amanda Byram once had to change locks on door to escape stalker ex-boyfriend

Amanda Byram has revealed she once had to change the locks on her door to escape an ex-boyfriend who stalked her for six months.

The TV star opened up on her dating disasters and admitted she had a turbulent time while living in LA in her 30s.

Amanda, 45, now happily married to TV producer Julian Okines, said: “I had a couple of long-term relationships in America. A couple of guys cheated, that was all devastating.

“Then I had a string of random, horrendous boyfriends out there. [One] stalked me for about six months, I had to change the locks on the door.”

Amanda also admitted on the Two Non Blondes podcast that she was dumped the day before she turned 40.

She said: “I was seeing a guy and we broke up on the eve of my 40th birthday.

“We were supposed to go to Croatia on my 40th but I ended up doing nothing. Then I made a year of it with friends... but turning 40 and being single was pretty horrifying.”

The Dubliner also told of her decision to cancel her wedding to Aussie rugby player Craig McMullen in 2011.

She said: “I was way more obsessed with the wedding than the thought of the marriage itself. He was a really nice guy, he would have made a great dad. That’s what I was always thinking about, ‘Is he the father of my children?’.

“He was hot, he was Aussie, he ticked loads of boxes.” Things came to a head after a work trip to host Total Wipeout.

She added: “I remember thinking I’ve really bad jet lag two weeks after I came home. Two more weeks and I was still really down.

“I went to see someone and she said you’re certifiably depressed. Why? I realised it was because I didn’t want to get married.”
