Amanda Bynes unrecognisable as she explains a director once branded her a 'monster'

Amanda Bynes has candidly revealed she was cruelly taunted as having looks like a ‘monster’ by a Hollywood director earlier in her career.

The 35-year-old actress is currently preparing for a court battle to have a conservatorship held against her overturned as she tries to regain control of her own life.

But in a recent social media update, the She’s The Man actress looked back to an earlier point in her career where she was brutally dismissed by a film director.

Amanda, who now looked worlds away from the honey-colour haired teen that she was at the peak of her career thanks to black dyed hair, may have looked unrecognisable to many fans in her latest update.

She said in a post shared via Instagram : “I once did a movie where the director told me that in certain lights, I looked like a monster.

“The reason I don't usually look great in paparazzi pictures is because I'm squinting in the sun.

“The videos and pictures I post are in a flattering light, or in the shade outside, without the sun blasting on my face.”

Amanda has effectively been rebranding herself in recent days, launching a new Instagram page in order to keep fans updated on her life progress.

She has told fans that she is having a heart tattoo on her face removed and she shared video of the ink looking less prominent – presumably after getting laser treatment on the drawing.

She has also been discussing her conservative battle latest.

The star recently announced online: “What's up, Instagram? Amanda Bynes here.

“My court date is coming up in two weeks. I want to thank you all so much for your love and support. Peace out.”

The former child star has filed documents in a Californian court as she petitions to have a nine-year long conservatorship overturned.

Her action comes just months after fellow former child star, Britney Spears, successfully had her own conservatorship overturned after 13 years.

Back in 2013, Amanda was hospitalised and held under a mental health evaluation order following an incident where she started a small fire in the driveway of a strangers’ home.

Her parents filed for a conservatorship shortly after her hospital stint – and were successfully granted the order, later having it extended in 2018.

In the intervening years, the star has succeeded in living sober and in February this year filed to have her conservatorship terminated as she believes she can support herself without the need for protection from the courts.

In September last year, her conservatorship was extended to January 2023, however the actress hopes to have this changed.

She is expected to appear in court later this month to have her case heard.
