Amanda Bynes' strict parents block her from getting married despite being engaged

Amanda Bynes' strict parents will block her from getting married to the love of her life, despite the fact she is engaged.

The troubled former actress, 33, showed off her new sparkly engagement ring just days ago, later revealing her mystery man - Paul Michael - to intrigued fans.

However Amanda's mum doesn't approve of her daughter's engagement, according to TMZ, and does not want the marriage to go ahead.

A source told the news outlet: "Amanda will never legally marry her fiancé Paul Michael, because her mother holds the key to marriage and she doesn't approve of her daughter's enagement."

Lynn, who is Amanda's mum, is also her conservator, and has a final say on many things in the star's life.

She cannot get married without her mum's consent, and sources for the publication say her "family feels it's not in her best interest to be married" as they haven't met Paul.

So a wedding doesn't seem to be on the cards anytime soon.

As for the lavish engagement ring, it's reported that Paul bought it off Amazon for $49.

Amanda is innocently telling people around her that the ring is not a real diamond, and that she doesn't mind a fake.

It is said that the pair have been dating for two or three months after meeting at an AA group.

Paul is in his 20s and from the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. His father is a prominent doctor in LA.

Amanda excitedly announced their engagement on Instagram, but concealed the identity of her hubby-to-be before posting a picture of them together the following day.
