Amanda Bynes Steps Out After Revealing She’s Using Ozempic And Why, Sparking Mixed Reactions

Amanda Bynes was spotted out and about in Los Angeles after telling fans she was starting Ozempic.

The former child star, 39, candidly spoke about her current weight and how she’s taking the blockbuster weight-loss medication to help her slim down.

Fans had mixed reactions after she shared the exact reason why she was turning to Ozempic.

“If it makes her happy then good for her. She’s had enough troubles,” one commented, while another wrote, “I feel sorry for her, she must be going through something.”

The She’s the Man actress was dressed casually in a grey hoodie, black cargo pants, and Converse sneakers while walking down the street in LA this week.

She appeared relaxed, with a vape in her hand during the outing.

While her appearance was low-key, her recent Ozempic confession was not.

The retired actress announced to her fans that she was officially joining the Ozempic club.

Ozempic is an anti-diabetic medication that’s normally prescribed to manage diabetes. But it has become wildly popular for its weight-loss effects in recent years.

“I’m going on Ozempic,” she said in a TikTok video shared on Sunday, June 22. “So excited.”

The Amanda Show alum shared her weight-loss goals while casually dying her hair pink and green in the TikTok video.

“I’m 173 now,” she went on to say, “so I hope to get down to 130—which would be awesome.”

The reason for taking the GLP-1 medication was “so I look better in paparazzi pictures and you don’t see my double chin from strange angles.”

“I’m doing a lot better now and have learned to do opposite action when I don’t feel like working out or eating clean,” she said.

“I weigh 162 lbs right now and want to get back to 110 lbs,” she added.

Amanda revealed in April this year that she had joined a subscription-based platform—popularly used by adult content creators—to connect more closely with her fans.

She asserted that she wouldn’t share anything “sleazy” on the platform.

A source close to Amanda said she was “looking into making money” and was “convinced” that the platform would “bring some serious cash her way.”

“Her intentions are to do this before she seeks any reality show opportunities. She understands the stigma around OnlyF***, but she is determined to make this very safe – nothing naughty,” they told the Daily Mail.

The source further claimed that Amanda was hoping to collaborate with her fans and share experiences from her days in showbiz.

“She wants to share some of her future designs with her fans, collaborate with them and she also wants to tell stories to people who don’t know everything about what happened from her past at Nickelodeon,” they said.

Amanda was only 7 years old when she first started acting. She landed a role in the Nickelodeon variety sketch show All That, and catapulted to fame at the age of 13. She later starred in her own comedy series, The Amanda Show.

She moved to the big screen in 2002, with her first feature film Big Fat Liar when she was 15. She then took on more mature roles and quickly made her way up the rom-com ladder.

The actress eventually landed in legal trouble and was placed under a conservatorship granted to her mother, Lynn Bynes, in 2014. Her conservatorship was terminated in March 2022.

Over the years, Amanda has shown no inclination towards making a Hollywood comeback.

The actress spoke in 2018 about retiring from acting after watching her performance in Easy A.

“I literally couldn’t stand my appearance in [Easy A] and I didn’t like my performance. I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it,” she said in a 2018 interview with Paper magazine.

“I saw it and I was convinced that I should never be on camera again and I officially retired on Twitter,” she added.

Fans had plenty to say after her recent Ozempic announcement, with one saying, “I hardly recognize her!”

“I’m hoping she makes a comeback,” one hopeful fan said.

“What happened to healthy eating and exercise?” a critic asked. “These celebs all want a quick fix but don’t care about all.of the side effects, good luck!”

“Go to the gym…she doing the quick and easy way,” another wrote. “Worried about paparazzi knowing Hollywood had her on a downward spiral for many years. Now she’s worried about what her pictures look like now.”
