Amad teammate gives verdict on Manchester United youngster's Sunderland loan

Manchester United starlet Amad has been told he is fulfilling the task he was set out to do when sent out on loan to Sunderland for the season.

The striker has been in prolific form this winter, having scored five goals in his last eight outings. He has started every one of those games and has become a favourite among fans after edging his way into a starting line-up regular.

Amad had a testing time at Rangers last season. He started the Scottish Cup final triumph but played no part in the club’s journey to the Europa League final and found it hard in front of goal across all competitions.

After struggling to find his feet during the first half of his short-term loan - which began in January - Amad managed to earn frequent starts, ending his stay with three goals in 13 games, of which he began six.

The Ivorian got off to a tentative start for Sunderland, briefly dropping down to the Under-21s to gain match fitness. He has been in inspired form since his return to the first-team, with boss Tony Mowbray a big fan of the 20-year-old.

And it seems his teammates are full of praise too. Alex Pritchard has outlined that he believes Amad is meeting the objective of his loan spell by playing games and having an impact on them, the 29-year-old also hailing the United player’s character.

"Amad has had his own journey," Pritchard said, as per Football Scotland. "I watch football all the time, and you see where he’s been previously. The boy is still young and has a big price tag on his head, but that’s not his problem. It’s out of his hands.

"He’s a down-to-earth lad, he obviously works hard, and you can see his qualities on the ball during the game.

"Coming here, I don’t think he’s had much game time at Rangers, and it was one of them where he’s come to Sunderland and needs to play games and affect games. That’s what he’s doing at the moment, so long may that continue."
