Amad's former coach tells Manchester United fans what to expect in next five years

The coach who first arranged for Amad to have a trial at Atalanta has tipped the starlet to compete for the Ballon d'Or within the next five years.

Amad has made an impressive start to life at Manchester United after completing his move from the Italian side in January, netting against AC Milan in the Europa League earlier this month.

Former AC Milan and Italy goalkeeper Giovanni Galli, who brought Amad to Atalanta's attention believes the 18-year-old has what it takes to reach the top.

Galli was sporting director at Serie C outfit Lucchese when he came across Amad, who had been impressing for amateur club Boca Barco.

The former keeper, who was capped 19 times for Italy and made over 250 appearances for Fiorentina before long stints at Milan and Napoli, used his contacts to arrange a trial for Amad at Atalanta in 2015, who promptly signed the young attacker up.

Speaking to Goal, who listed Amad on their NxGn list of the best wonderkids in football, Galli revealed what he believes Amad needs to do to improve, but said that the youngster's pace means he will become a force to be reckoned with.

"Amad is unique but he must make himself stronger," he said. "At the same time, he must make sure he does not lose his speed, which is a quality that distinguishes him from others."

He added: "In short, I think he has all the qualities to be a candidate for the Ballon d’Or in the next five years."
