Amad Diallo names his two Manchester United role models in first full interview

Amad Diallo says he will be asking Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba for advice following confirmation of his move to Manchester United.

United agreed a deal to sign the 18-year-old winger on deadline day of the summer window, but his move to England was only made official last week when he got his work permit.

Diallo was at Carrington for the first time on Wednesday as he looks to settle into life at Old Trafford and establish himself firmly in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans.

The youngster has only played 35 minutes of football for former side Atalanta this season and might need a while to settle before he is unleashed into the senior squad.

It is a daunting experience for the teenage sensation, but he sees Bailly and Pogba as two fantastic role models to learn from in his first few weeks at the club.

“Absolutely, Eric will be a definite reference point for me," Diallo told the official club website. "I’ve actually already been in touch with him over the last few months and we’ve been chatting.

"I’ll be asking him for advice and will be listening to all he says, and also the other players who speak French and Italian like [Paul] Pogba for example, he will be another good reference point for me.”

Just like fellow summer signing Facundo Pellisitri, Diallo might need a bedding in period with the U23s before he is given chance to shine in the senior set-up.

The fact United rejected an approach from Atalanta to loan the winger for the remainder of the season shows how highly he is rated by Solskjaer, while the youngster himself had no intentions of remaining in Italy.

He added: "To be honest I cannot wait, I’m so excited at the prospect of working with these fantastic people at such a great club.

"This adventure is about to start and I’m really, really excited and over the moon.”
