Amad Diallo has already identified reference point in Man Utd first team

Amad Diallo said he will be using countryman Eric Bailly as a reference point in the Manchester United first team after completing his move to the club.

The talented teenager, 18, who has already earned comparisons with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, finally completed his move from Atalanta to United this month.

Diallo has barely played for Atalanta's first team - just five appearances - but clips of him darting past players one or two years his senior in training have sent United fans wild.

The winger was born in the Ivory Coast and has already been in touch with fellow Ivorian and new team-mate Bailly for advice on settling in.

He told ManUtd.com: "Eric will be a definite reference point for me. I’ve actually already been in touch with him over the last few months and we’ve been chatting.

"I’ll be asking him for advice and will be listening to all he says, and also the other players who speak French and Italian like [Paul] Pogba for example, he will be another good reference point for me."

Despite the viral clips, Diallo comes across grounded and knows there's still much for him to improve.

"I’m only young, only 18, so there is still a long way ahead for me," he said. "I want to learn and progress and I will be listening to the more experienced players here and the coach, and I’ll do my best and work hard to succeed."

And when asked for his United goals, Diallo didn't hold back.

"I’m a little bit too anxious to say this given it’s just the start [of my time here] but my dream is to win the Premier League and the Champions League with Manchester United.

"That is my aim and goal."
