Nothing has been heard from the AM Racing (AMR) NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series (NOAPS) team since withdrawing from the Rockingham race at the end of March, but Motorsport.com can now confirm that the team has formally ceased operations.
Per our Senior NASCAR correspondent Matt Weaver, Vice President of Competition Matthew Lucas informed employees that they were being released from their duties, telling them that he made a concerted effort to stabilize the race team without success.
AM Racing made the NOAPS playoffs in 2025 with Harrison Burton, finishing 12th in driver points with two top fives and ten top tens. They were planning to compete full-time with Nick Sanchez in the No. 25 Ford Mustang this year as well. He was 25th in points when they withdrew from the Rockingham race, with a best finish of third in the first seven races of the year.
The team was also entering a second car (No. 52 Ford) in a handful of races earlier this year with Daniel Dye behind the wheel. Motorsport.com understands that Dye hoped to compete with AMR after being released from the Kaulig Racing Truck team, and that Sanchez has met with individuals from Team Penske, but nothing came of that either.
AM Racing had planned to sell its assets to Sigma Performance Services ahead of the 2026 O'Reilly season, but that deal fell apart just before the start of the new season.
