Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has been reflecting on his loan spell at Nottingham Forest and says he would like to have signed for the Reds permanently - something which has left Forest fans curious.
The 34-year-old had a spell on loan at the City Ground from Southampton in 2012/13, scoring 12 goals in 43 appearances, in all competitions.
The Blades forward was asked on Twitter if there was “ever a point in time” when he wanted to sign permanently for the Reds.
Sharp replied: “Yes I wanted to sign of course, was a great club to be at, enjoyed every minute of my time at Forest, fans were amazing towards me and my family and will forever be grateful for that.”
Here's how fans have reacted to Sharp's admission
Stephen McCubbin: Wish he did he was brilliant on loan.
Mark Richard Whiting: Love to have him back now, Billy and Lewis up front.
Glen Pearce: One of my favourite players.
Dan Shelton: Should of signed him.
Don Whittall: Wish we moved for him.
David Barnes: Just thrashed Leeds 4-2 at Christmas with Sharp looking great. Team making serious progress then O’Driscoll sacked in favour of the clueless Alex McLeish. One of many negative turning points for us in the last 2 x decades.
Sarah Edwards: Always wonder 'what if' with this one.
Paula Regan: Wish we had signed him.
