'Always the same' - Ex-Liverpool star Luis Suarez fumes at Diego Simeone after Atletico Madrid substitution

Tensions have boiled over between former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and his Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.

Atletico could be set to enter 2022 outside of the top four in Spain after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Seville on Saturday night.

Former Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic opened the scoring with a stunner before a Lucas Ocampos winner left Suarez and his team-mates down in fifth place.

The Uruguayan, who was last season’s player of the year in La Liga, was substituted after 57 minutes and he made it easy for lip readers to understand what was said toward his Argentine manager.

Suarez is reported to have said: “A*******, always the same," as his number was called, and he was then seen looking livid on the bench.

The 34-year-old is on a barren run in front of goal after going seven games without scoring for his club - his longest goalless spell since his time at Ajax in 2007.

Liverpool and Atletico were drawn in the same Champions League group this season.

But the Reds overcame their Spanish opposition both home and away - with Suarez scoring in neither match.

Atletico finished second in the group behind Liverpool and were drawn against their bitter rivals Manchester United in the round of 16.
