Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Rob McElhenney reveals holiday in Ireland was one of 'best weeks of my life'

Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Rob McElhenney has heaped praise on Ireland after enjoying a family holiday here.

The actor, who plays Mac on the hit show, revealed journeying around the country was one of "the best weeks of my life" and also thanked the Irish people for making him "feel like I was home".

Rob, 42, and his family took in the sights around the country, stopping off at historic Trim Castle in Co Meath and strolling on the shore at Portmarnock Beach as well as taking a dip in the ocean.

They also visited Mullaghmore in Sligo where Rob shared a funny video of his sister Katie struggling to climb a steep cliff ledge.

He shared several photos of his adventures to his Instagram account and also posted a stunning drone video as he prepared to leave the country.

The clip shows Rob and his family waving as the camera pans the shore of Portmarnock Beach and the ocean while The Pogues' Fairytale of New York plays in the background.

Rob wrote: "Thank you Ireland. What a tremendous gift it was to spend time with my Dad, my brothers and my sister in your beautiful country.

"I am filled with so much love for the people in this photo.

"And for the thousands of people on the shores behind us that made this one of the best weeks of my life.

"You made feel like I was home. Sláinte."
