'Always my idol' - Bolton Wanderers star picks Chelsea legend as favourite all time player

Bolton Wanderers forward Elias Kachunga has named Chelsea's Didier Drogba as his favourite player of all time and said the former Ivory Coast star was his 'idol' growing up.

The season has recently come to a conclusion at Wanderers with the club finishing ninth in League One, with Kachunga ending the season on four goals from 41 appearances.

The former Huddersfield Town man moved to Wanderers last summer after being released by Sheffield Wednesday and put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the club. All focus is now on next season where promotion is being targeted at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Speaking with the club's Twitter account about his time at Wanderers so far, Kachunga says Drogba is his favourite player of all time from when he was growing up.

The now retired striker netting 164 four goals in 381 appearances across two spells at Stamford Bridge, winning four Premier League titles, a quartet of FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League.

Kachunga has also branded his debut for Wanderers as his best memory so far, as he came off the bench to tee up Alex Baptiste for the dramatic late equaliser in a 3-3 draw on the opening day of the recently concluded League One season against MK Dons, in rainy conditions at the UniBol.

He told the club Twitter account: "Didier Drogba was always my idol when I grew up. The way he played for Chelsea, I always liked to see how he played.

"The first game (is my best Bolton memory), it was a full stadium and I gave straight away an assist for Baps to get the draw so it was my best memory so far.

"The weather was great as well - typical English!"
